My remade wallet / Perdaryta piniginė

How are you? It's pouring rain where I am. And I'm so worried, I start collage in 3 hours. So excited and so scared... But today I wanna share one more old creation of mine:

Few years back I remade a wallet. It was my sister and she threw it away. Probably because it wasn't in such good shape. But for me it was a good thing, I actually could redo it and make it unique. Since it was originally pink I decided to use pink fabric. And not to get it dirty I used dark brown. For the pattern I choose hexagons. Actually it was my first time using them. And I am in love ever since them.

The other side. I'm happy how it turned out. I was really proud to take it out in the store or market.

Kita pusė. Aš labai patenkinta dėl to kaip ji išejo, net didžiavausi išsitraukdama parduotuvėj.

Have a nice day,

Catch Up!

Like always I'm gone for a long time, and I'm not sorry about that. When I'n not on the computer I'm probably doing some sewing or reading a book. So today a quick jump in to tell you what's going on.

First is that I have no internet at home, I'll get it only in the upcoming few weeks, it really is uncomfortable to live without it.

Good news is that I finished my a mini for my IG handpieced mini quilt swap. I left my camera at home so before sending it I only took them with my phone camera. And I didn't downloaded them to my pc. But here is the process of the mini.

Recently I turned 20. And the best surprise was these flowers, I have the best cousin.

And one more amazing thing I finished is a painting for my teacher, but I want to write a separate post for it, so only a peek from it.

Have a nice, sunny summer.

Small, little craft projects

I do understand that yesterday wasn’t my best day, so today I want to make up for that. So today I’m sharing small things that I made. I thought why don’t, I put most of them in one post, so here they are.

At school, which I finished was over a year ago, we had to wear uniforms. Not to mix with my classmates or anyone from the school I decided to sew hexagon inside. Well you know how I love my hexagons. I matched my hexie with the lining :)

Front

Back
A brooch. I really fell for one that I saw at a fair, but instead of buying it, I decided to make one. I did something similar, but I added my own design. And no surprise there, that I never wore it. But my Mom did, she is more of a brooch person, and I’m just a maker.

I love fairs, especially quilting fairs and exhibitions. And few years back I got an opportunity to visit one. It was in German, it’s called Nadelwelt. I have a lot of pictures from it, should I share them? So anyways, we were traveling from Lithuania and we wanted for people to know that so we decided to make Lithuania’s flag and sew it on us somehow. Of course mine had to be made from hexies. Yellow, green, red that’s my country’s’ flag. And what surprised me that no one else remembered to make them. I would have enjoyed seeing how others did it, but well at least we had. And through entire journey I kept it on my bag, like a nice accessory.

The last one for this post is my pincushion. It was autumn and I came up a really nice tutorial on how to make a pumpkin, so I tried making one. And I’m using it even now. Actually I own only one pincushion, and that is this one. I recently bought new pins so these ones probably need a new one. But not pumpkin, something else, hm…

That’s it for this post, hope you liked it, glad to see you here,
Dovile

Štai ir viskas šiam įrašui, tikiuosi patiko, smagu jus čia matyti,

More WIPs

Who doesn't have few WIPs in their shelves. And what always keeps happening is that more WIPs keeps adding to that pile. So here are my new WIPs.

Warm - Cool quilt top is finished, I used chain piecing and it came together so fast. At first I was hesitant about my fabric choice and I wasn't sure of something will come out of it. But the present view makes me happy. It turned out better than expected. Can't wait to finish, but it'll have to wait. Because...

I started more projects. I have so much unusable fabric, so I decided to use it up for something simple, and so I want with picnic quilts. I am cutting my fabric in 15, 20, 25, 30 centimeter squares. And then I'll decide on some design. One of them will probably be a simple patchwork quilt. And one is already requested by my cousin, so that one will be with some stars.

And of course I have to finish some swaps, this one is from Instagram. #handpiecedminiswap. I know my partner loves hexies and hand stitches. Hexies - easy, hand stitching - scary. I have never hand stitched. But that's what swaps are for, to try something new. So my hexies are finished, they turned quite small, but I love how mini they are.

How about you? Do you finish your WIPs before starting new?

Best wishes,
Dovile

Denim hexie bag

Okay, since this blog is also about sewing why not share something sewn. For example how about a bag?

You probably have noticed my obsession with denim and hexies. So one day I decided to put them together on the bag. It turned out pretty nice.

After finishing it I didn't know which side was the right one. I love both sides, and all hexies. The bag itself turned out to be pretty wast, so I tend to use it for sleepovers or traveling. Because what's better than traveling with the bag you made.

After this project I decided that hexies and denim go pretty nice together. So made few more projects with them.

Have a nice hexing time,
Dovile

Catch up!

I've been working on my warm cool quilt. (Quilt along from In Color Order) I cut all the pieces. Decided to make a baby size. So 100 squares needed. I really enjoy these rainbow like piles. My machine has a different seam allowance, so this weekend I'm going home and I hope to sew them all together.

While watching TV series I piece hexies. Mostly from scraps. I have no idea what to make from them though. Just enjoying making them.

Finally started working on my painting with natural materials. This one is for my teacher. And I do realize I haven't talked about decorations with natural materials. But I do promise in this week to whip up a post about it.

Best wishes,
Dovile

First Swap experience!

Finally I participated in a swap. I've been searching for one for a while. And just around December I found one on Instagram. Theme of this swap was a #rainbowminiswap.  International participants were welcomed so I jumped right in. And now when it's almost over I can say that my first experience was amazing. Kate Basti was the organizing this one, and everything was amazing. I got every information I needed. I knew I could ask my swap mama Tiffany anything and she would gladly help me.

I knew my partner was into hexagons so I decided to try the modern hexies technique. I've been meaning to try a tutorial from Modern Handcraft. And so this is what it turned out into.

I'm so in love with this technique, can't wait to try something else.
And my mini is still on the way to my partner, I hope she likes it.

I also made few extras. This one is my favorite. Mini hexie strap. It's from denim.

And on Saturday morning my mini came. I unpacked it in seconds to see what amazing job I got. And I couldn't be any happier.

It was made by Jennifer. She blogs at Quilter in the Closet. She did such an amazing job, I love it so much. All those tiny squares. I can't actually stop admiring her work. I was really blessed to get such partner.

Even the backing is amazing.

Some fabric from USA was in order. Love them, don't know what to make. Thinking about a pillow or some potholders or maybe even a mini. So much possibilities.

And all the extra she sent me, I love it. I wondered if I should wait to photograph my chocolate.

And if that was it, I wish. Few days latter I signed on another swap on IG. This one is called Beach Bound Mini Quilt Swap. Meredith is organizing it if you want to join.(Sign Ups open till 04.15)

Best Wishes, Dovile
